2012 Wedding Trends!

  • Photo Booths
WE love photo booths and so will your wedding guests!  If you can afford a photo booth in addition to (not instead of) hiring a professional photographer we suggest Lifestyle Studio Booth or 970 Photo Booth Company
  • Birdcage Veils
Fashion forward brides are skipping the cathedral length wedding veils and going with a vintage looking birdcage veil instead.  You can find these in local bridal shops.  If you’re feeling crafty check out our birdcage veil tutorial on www.Hitchedingj.com and make your own for under $5!
  • Cupcakes, Cake Pops & Candy Bars (The Anti-Cake)
Don’t worry we still love a classic three-tiered wedding cake as much as the next girl. Cupcake towers, trays of different flavor cake pops and jars of colorful candy are a thrifty alternative to the traditional cake.
  • Camouflage as a Wedding Color
Don’t be so surprised, we live in Colorado. Grooms are speaking up and their favorite wedding color is Camo! I’m thinking real tree vests for the groomsmen and a snow camo vest for the groom! Don’t worry brides they’ll be mostly hidden by their tuxedo jackets.
  • End of the Night Appetizers
French fries, sliders, or milk and cookies are all great end of the night appetizers. Your guests will be pleasantly surprised when you serve them a snack before they head home.  This might be the perfect time to surprise your groom with his favorite snack, after all they say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.
  • Non Matching Bridesmaid Dresses
You can choose a color and then let your bridesmaids pick the style that is most flattering to their body. Your bridesmaids will love you forever! OR you can pick the style that you like and then have each girl wear a different color. I saw a bride do this once with jewel tones and another with metallics! Superb!
  • Unique Wedding Themes
Grand Junction brides are going theme crazy! Picking a theme is a great way to decide on the look and feel you want for your wedding. It gives you a direction and can be a great challenge for those creative wedding planners! A few of this year’s favorites are: Steam Punk, Carnival and Shabby Chic.
  • Nature Decor
Leaves, branches, river rocks and moss are all really popular decorative materials. We live in such a nature rich environment. Why not go on a hike with your honey and pick up some beautiful branches for center pieces and a few aspen leaves to throw instead of rice? Who knows, you might have some decorative items in your own back yard.

  • No Bloom Bouquets
Brooch bouquets are made up from vintage brooches that you either have on hand, have been handed down through your family or you’ve tracked down in antique shops.  Paper bouquets are origami flowers made out of colored paper, tissue paper, sheet music or newspaper. The cool thing about non-bloom bouquets is that they won’t wilt or die; you get to keep them forever!
  • Un-Bridal, Bridal Shoes
Brides are skipping the traditional white pumps or sling backs and going with something that shows their personality.  I’ve seen everything from hot pink converse to cowboy boots.  Pick a pair of shoes that you absolutely love instead of the same old white wedding shoes.
